Senior living options – A new place to call home!

As our population ages our senior citizens are looking for a new place to call home. Downsizing and one floor living is a must have for the future. We feel that developers should really start considering the downsizers and seniors when developing new projects.

Norwalk provides a number of great condo complexes that fit the needs for one floor living. The prices range from $175,000 and up, depending on your budget and lifestyle. Let’s explore a few of those complexes this month.

The units at 80 County Street are priced at the lower end with 1 bedroom condos selling in the $180,000 price range and 2 bedroom units starting around $200,000 plus. This complex provides plenty of outdoor, lush green landscaping plus a very nice pool for those warm summer days.

Rolling Ridge located at 50 Aiken Street is another starter complex. There are 1 and 2 bedroom units there ranging in price from $199,000 and up. The grounds are quite lovely with a pond and pool area located to the rear of the complex.

If you are looking for a much more luxurious living experience, then you may want to consider 33 North Water Street in the heart of SoNo. These condos offer one floor living with one to two bedrooms. There is an elevator in the building and onsite parking.  You can walk to the waterfront and dine at local restaurants without using your car. With the new mall scheduled to be built, shopping would only be a 5 minute walk away.

If you are looking for a more suburban setting, Rowayton Woods or Ledgebrook condominiums may appeal to you. There are one bedroom and two bedroom flats available at these locations. Both properties offer lovely grounds, pool and natural ponds.

If waterfront is your thing then look to 4 Daskams lane for river views from your living area and outdoor deck. Most of the units are two bedroom/two baths and have open floor plans. This location includes an elevator building making stairs a thing of the past. 100 Seaview Avenue and 26 Cove Avenue also offer waterfront living on the inlet of Long Island sound. Dock space may be available for the boaters.

If you’re looking to downsize into a house, one floor ranches offer a great alternative.  This allows you the ease of getting around your home with the opportunity to have some land for entertaining or gardening.

We know it’s a very emotional decision when selling your home of many years, but considering these alternatives may ease some of the pressure of living in and the continued upkeep of your home. As your home ages and needs some of the more expensive repairs, such as heating systems, roof or paint, the value starts to drop considerably. When you finally make that decision to sell, please contact us. We would be happy to help you through the process with ease and consideration
