Cancer Survivor-Relay for Life June 19th

The Relay for Life is an overnight event that joins communities in the fight against cancer. It is a way to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones, and fight back against the disease that takes too much from too many. All of the money raised for the Relay for Life goes towards cancer research, patient services, education and advocacy. The Relay for Life represents our hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be eliminated.This is second year that the Relay for Life of Norwalk Event will be held at Brien McMahon High School. The Relay begins on Friday, June 19th at 6PM with a Survivor Reception. Cancer survivors and caregivers are the guests of honor as Relay kicks off with special recognition to everyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis or helped someone with cancer. An assortment of food will be served, a solo violinist will be playing and each survivor will receive a gift. Then Opening Ceremonies will commence at 7PM. We are honored to have a number of speakers at this year’s Relay including Norwalk City officials, Norwalk Hospital Doctors, local community members and music artists. We will have a Luminaria Ceremony at 9PM with hundreds of candles dedicated to loved ones and will keep the track bright with a heartfelt reminder of how cancer touches all of us. Then at 10PM we will have a Fight Back Ceremony to inspire action against cancer all year long. Teams of friends, families, schools, businesses and organizations join together and walk through the night. Teams set-up campsites and enjoy a number of activities and entertainment. Closing Ceremonies will be at 7AM followed by breakfast.
